VIETNAM’S CA TRU FALLING AN URGENT SITUATION

Professor Dang Hoanh, former vice chief of the Vietnam Music Institute, said that Vietnam’s ca tru is facing many threats and needs to be protected as soon as possible.

First of all, Vietnam has only 21 ca tru artisans, all of whom are very old. Only 12 of them are able to teach ca tru to the young generation. When they pass away, ca tru may disappear with them.

Secondly, ca tru is not popular in the general community. The public do not understand ca tru and it has few opportunities to be exposed to this traditional art. As a result, ca tru has lost its important position in the lives of Vietnamese people.

Thirdly, places for ca tru performances (communal houses, royal courts and private residences) have vanished. The only space for ca tru at present is ca tru clubs.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 13 sent the file of ca tru to UNESCO for consideration as a world intangible heritage in need of urgent protection.

Giaùo sö Ñaëng Hoaønh, nguyeân phoù giaùm ñoác cuûa Vieän AÂm nhaïc Vieät Nam, cho bieát ca truø cuûa Vieät Nam ñang ñoái maët vôùi nhieàu moái ñe doïa vaø caàn phaûi ñöôïc baûo veä caøng sôùm caøng toát.
Tröôùc heát, Vieät Nam chæ coù 21 ngheä nhaân ca truø, tất cả các nghệ nhân này đều rất già. Chæ 12 ngöôøi trong soá hoï coù theå daïy ca truø cho theá heä treû. Khi hoï qua đời, ca truø coù theå bieán maát vôùi hoï.
Thöù hai, ca truø khoâng phaûi laø phoå bieán trong coäng ñoàng noùi chung. Coâng chuùng khoâng hieåu ca truø vaø coù ít cô hoäi ñöôïc tieáp xuùc vôùi ngheä thuaät truyeàn thoáng naøy. Keát quaû laø, ca truø ñaõ maát vò trí quan troïng cuûa noù trong cuoäc soáng cuûa ngöôøi Vieät Nam.
Thöù ba, nôi bieåu dieãn ca truø (ñình, toøa aùn hoaøng gia vaø nhaø ôû tö nhaân) ñaõ bieán maát. Khoâng gian chæ daønh cho ca truø hieän nay laø caùc caâu laïc boä ca truø.
Boä Vieät Nam Vaên hoùa, Theå thao vaø Du lòch, ngaøy 13 thaùng 3 göûi caùc taäp tin cuûa ca truø ñeå UNESCO xem xeùt nhö laø di saûn phi vaät theå theá giôùi caàn ñöôïc baûo veä khaån caáp.
